Welcome to CES Oxford! We want you to have a great time and learn how to speak English, and find out more about British culture. We want you to have a great time and learn how to speak English, and find out more about British culture.
The focus of your lessons will depend on the requests of your teachers. You will probably be in a class with friends from your group. Normally you will have a cultural syllabus or exams practice syllabus.
Lessons are all different and you will have fun learning new things. Our teachers are friendly and want to get to know you. At the end of each week, you may complete a project if that is part of your course plan.
We believe that learning a language should be fun! Our CES syllabus is designed to give you the opportunity to practice the English you already know, and to support you to develop in a fun and encouraging environment. The classes will have lots of group activities and you will have the chance to work with other students to practice your English.
When you are in class you will study many interesting topics to help improve your skills and understanding of the world outside of the classroom. These include:
British culture
21st Century skills e.g. teambuilding and life skills
Project work and presentation skills
Study skills
Your course also includes lots of fun and interesting visits to places in Oxford. Your teachers will introduce these to you in the classroom and you will be given the opportunity to talk about the places you have visited, and learn more about the stories behind them.
Speaking is the main focus in the lessons, supported by activities that develop grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. Students also practise listening, reading and writing skills.
You will have the chance to put your new language skills into action, chatting with your host families or meeting our international students from all over the world.
